addison part 2

I was lucky enough to photograph this sweet just-turned three year old recently near her home,
which just happens to be close to a beach, like, within walking distance. Can you say jealous??!!

She also happens to be the daughter of some good friends of ours.
Don't let this sweet smile fool you though. She was a tough cookie! Her momma
and I had to pull out alot of tricks to even have her glance at the camera.

However, I did manage to sneak a few, "Hey Addison, is there a purple chicken on my head?"
Which, she looked up, smiled, and said, "Nooooo!!" and then immediately turned away.
(Luckily, I got the shot in though! ;) That's how you out smart a three year old!)

addison

Sweet Addison! Oh how hard it was to capture your cute smile but
I waited and I was patient and you know what they say about people that wait...

Good things come to them.... like your cute smile!

more of erin cobb & pullbacks

This past Monday I watched my faaaaavorite of photographer, Erin Cobb, work her magic.
(Which she ended up mentioning on HER blog here, which I was totally
surprised and humbled by!! I'm #9 on her list)

She was doing a photo session of a couple with their cuuuute 7 month old, Connor, and
she let me tag along. She told me what lenses she was using and why, why
she was photographing in a particular spot, how the clothes were chosen, etc. I was
most interested to see how she interacted with the family and how she's always able to get
such great shots.

A few tips I picked up from her on how to interact with clients and get those "great shot",
especially with babies:

 - lots of silly sounds
- singing
- hand motions
- mom and dad with baby's favorite toy
and my favorite

- have mom/dad smiling and laughing right next to Erin's camera.
I heard Erin say a few times, "You can get right up in my grill."

Here are a few shots that I took of Erin working. (She's the one in white)

Erin was on the ground

mom shaking baby Connor's favorite food.
(Dad was behind the wood pile holding onto Connor)

hope you were able to pick up some ideas too!

Giddy school girl

I have had a perma-grin on my face for the last week.
Why? I met this sweet and FABULOUS photographer this weekend,
THE
Erin Cobb.

(If you haven't seen her work you MUST check it out here)

I've followed her work for about a year. She lives in Alabama with her sweet husband
and two gorgeous kids, Epraim (who I got to meet and picked as Katheryn's
future husband) and her 5 year old Sara.

The reason I initially liked her was because her photography is to die for. Crisp, clean,
colorful photos that have tons of personality. It's basically what I'm striving for.
Not to copy her style just to get a similar "feel."

However, when I met her and aunts and sister at a local coffee shop I was able
to get to know her a little better. She's not only nice but incredibly down to earth. Like,
somebody that would totally be in my mom's group and we might end up
hanging out together, hopefully.

After meeting her in person I have a bigger photography crush on her than I did before!
I'm going to actually get to see her work in action and hopefully pick up a few tips!

Not sure if this week could be anymore personally and professionally fulfilling!!

Spring is finally here

Since the monsoon of 2011 is finally over we've been spending
a ton of time outside and my daughter has been
loving every second of it!
