santa cruz

I took a trip to santa cruz, california yesterday so I could
practice some of my photography skills. Santa Cruz is known for their
boardwalk and surfing. Two things that in the middle of winter are
not so populated. I actually really liked that the two areas that
I went to were pretty much deserted. I was able to get some great pictures
without alot of distractions. It was also a very cold and overcast
day so the light was perfect, no harsh sunlight. It also was a great juxtaposition
between the cold desolate boardwalk and the vibrant colors.

lucy

Little Lucy is a petite thing but has a huge personality! She is another
good friend's daughter. This shoot was literally one of my
first photoshoots and I had such a blast.

This was Lucy's one year cake smash and she had so much fun. I think
her momma and grandma and I had just as much fun watching her.

stina

Ms. Stina and her momma were great to work with. Stina was only six days old
when I photographed her. Most moms less than a week out (including me!)
are still very much adjusting and very much sleep deprived but
looking at momma you would have never known this. She was super laid back and went
with the flow, much like Stina.

I can't wait to see Stina grow up and become a sweet and fun young lady
like her older sister, Alma, who just happens to be my daughter's BFF.

the b triplets

Another good friend of mine let me practice my photography skills on
her month old triplets.... yes, not 1, not 2, but THREE babies.
I knew I had my work cut out for me but I was super excited
and up for the challenge. I also felt very privileged in being able to document
this wonderful miracle. I'm just hoping that the mom will let me
continue documenting them over the next few years!!

alexis

This sweet girl is the daughter of some close friends of mine.
They were generous enough to let her be my first "ginny pig."
This was my first newborn photoshoot.... EVER!!

I was super super nervous but had felt like I had done my research, practiced
on one of my daughter's dolls and prayed ALOT to the newborn photography gods.
Luckily the mom was cool, calm and collective and went with my (nervous) flow. After about an
hour I felt like I got my rhythm and the shoot went smoothly. It didn't hurt that alexis
was the best model ever! She slept like a champ and was game to almost any set up.
After finishing and going through the pictures I realized that I was hooked on newborns.

So, thank you ephi and alexis for being my first models. You definitely helped pave the way!!
